In short: RetroSnap is a photo editing app that works primarily offline on your device. We only collect anonymous technical information to improve the app and prevent crashes. We do not share your photos or personal information with third parties.
1. Introduction
This Privacy Policy describes how RetroSnap ("we", "our", or "the app") collects, uses, and protects information when you use our mobile application available on the Google Play Store.
By using RetroSnap, you agree to the practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the app.

Through Firebase Crashlytics (a Google service), we automatically collect:
- Crash and error data: Information about crashes, exceptions, and errors that occur in the app
- Device information: Device model, Android OS version, system language
- Usage data: Anonymous statistics about how the app is used (features used, session duration)
- Technical identifiers: Anonymous installation ID generated by Firebase (not linked to your personal identity)
2.2. Information You Provide
- Photos: Photos you take or select from your gallery are stored only on your device. They are never uploaded to our servers or to any cloud service.
- Geographic location (optional): If you grant location permission, the app may add the city/country to photos you capture. This information is saved only on your device and is never sent to any server.
- Text and annotations: Any text you add to your photos is stored locally on your device.
2.3. Information We Do NOT Collect
RetroSnap does NOT collect:
- Name, email address, phone number, or other personally identifiable data
- Your photos or visual content (they remain on your device)
- Contacts, messages, or information from other apps
- Payment or financial information
3. How We Use the Information
We use the collected information exclusively to:
- Improve stability: Identify and fix bugs, crashes, and technical issues
- Optimize performance: Understand which devices and Android versions have issues so we can prioritize fixes
- Analyze usage: Learn which features are used most to improve the user experience
- Develop new features: Make informed decisions about future updates
Important: All collected information is anonymous and aggregated. We cannot personally identify you from this data.
4. Data Sharing with Third Parties
4.1. Firebase / Google
RetroSnap uses the following Firebase (Google LLC) services:
- Firebase Crashlytics: For error and crash monitoring
- Firebase Analytics: For anonymous usage statistics
These services process data according to Google's Privacy Policy. Google may use aggregated data to improve its services, but does not have access to your photos or personal content.
4.2. No Other Third Parties
RetroSnap does NOT share, sell, rent, or transfer your data to:
- Advertising companies
- Social networks (unless you explicitly choose to share)
- Data brokers
- Any other third party not mentioned in this policy
5. App Permissions
RetroSnap requests the following Android permissions:

- Camera: To capture photos directly from the app
- Storage / Gallery: To save edited photos to your gallery and load existing photos
5.2. Optional Permissions
- Location: Only if you want to add geolocation to your photos. You can deny this permission and the app will continue to work normally
You can revoke any permission at any time from Android settings, although this may limit some functionality.
6. Data Storage and Security
6.1. Local Storage
All your photos, boards, and settings are stored only on your device using secure local storage technologies (Hive database, SharedPreferences).
6.2. Technical Security
We implement technical security measures to protect data:
- Encrypted communication (HTTPS) with Firebase services
- Local storage protected by Android's permission system
- No transmission of photos or personal content to external servers
6.3. User Responsibility
Since data is stored locally:
- If you uninstall the app, you will lose all your photos and boards
- We recommend backing up your important photos
- You are responsible for the security of your device (screen lock, passwords, etc.)
7. Data Retention
- Technical data (crashes, analytics): Firebase retains this data for a maximum of 90 days per their policy
- Your photos and content: Stored indefinitely on your device until you choose to delete them or uninstall the app
8. Children's Privacy
RetroSnap is not specifically directed at children under 13, but may be used by them under parental supervision.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. The anonymous technical data we collect (crashes, analytics) does not allow us to identify the user's age.
If you are a parent and discover that your child has provided personal information without your consent, please contact us so we can delete it.
9. Your Rights as a User
As a RetroSnap user, you have the right to:
- Access: You can access all your local data directly from the app
- Deletion: You can delete photos, boards, or uninstall the app at any time
- Portability: You can export your photos from the app to your gallery or share them
- Permission revocation: You can deny permissions from Android settings
- Analytics opt-out: You can stop sending technical data by uninstalling the app
10. Third-Party Services and Links
RetroSnap may allow you to share photos through third-party services (social networks, messaging). When you share content:
- You are subject to the privacy policies of those services
- RetroSnap does not control how those services use your information
- We recommend reviewing their policies before sharing

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes through:

- Updating the "Last updated" date in this document
- A message on the app's Google Play Store page
Your continued use of the app after changes constitutes your acceptance of the new policy.
